February 1, 2007 · Burlington, VT EplerWood International has become a carbon neutral company thanks to Megan Epler Wood’s new business collaboration with NativeEnergy. Megan Epler Wood has launched a new joint venture – NativeEnergy Travel Offsets with the Vermont-based firm NativeEnergy, the company that was chosen to provide the carbon offsets for the landmark climate crisis documentary An Inconvenient Truth.
NativeEnergy is one of the leading providers of voluntary carbon offsets in the U.S. whose clients include Ben & Jerry’s, Clif Bar, Stonyfield Farm, Interface, Aveda, and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters.
Epler Wood states, “I am pleased to be allied with NativeEnergy to address the most important environmental challenge the travel industry has to face in the 21st century – global warming.”
The firm is unique among the top rated carbon offset programs due to its focus on using renewable energy projects, which would not have been built otherwise, to lower the carbon emissions of the United States which is presently responsible for 25% of carbon emissions globally.
Epler Wood has partnered with travel marketing expert, Richard G. Edwards to deliver NativeEnergy’s unique brand of carbon offsets to the travel industry. Edwards is a Condé Nast award winning ecotourism specialist who works with leading tour operators focused on sustainable travel.
The NativeEnergy Travel Offsets team will assist all sectors of the travel industry with the process of reducing their carbon emissions first, before offsetting the rest of their carbon footprint. The company will work with both profit and non-profit travel businesses.
NativeEnergy's formula for offsetting carbon has received top marks in independent studies for voluntary carbon offsets worldwide. "Our team is happy to provide prospective clients with the independent studies on the carbon offset industry on request," states Epler Wood, "we think we represent the best in corporate socially responsibility."
With NativeEnergy as a partner, EplerWood International has offset its entire footprint for 2006 and become a carbon neutral firm. A new NativeEnergy logo is now displayed on the company website to demonstrate that it is a carbon "responsible" company. This logo will be made available to all NativeEnergy Travel Offset clients who go carbon neutral in future.
Epler Wood states, "I have also offset the carbon emissions for my home and personal travel with my husband Greg. We are proud that we went through this process of lowering our own personal emissions via a local community initiative using the guide, Low Carbon Diet, A 30 Day Program to Lose 5000 Pounds. I highly recommend this process to everyone. Once you have calculated your household emissions, visit www.nativeenergy.com to see our outstanding flash video and use our state of the art travel calculator – this will assist all who are interested in understanding how to offset their personal or business impacts. “
